New York State Museum is FREE and is the largest museum of its kind in the country.The Museum exhibitions include Fire Engine Hall, The Cohoes Mastodon and much more. Kids especially love the hand-carved 36-horse carousel.

Exhibits include a model of the Helderberg Escarpment, a live honeybee observation hive, bird viewing areas, fossils, furs, skulls and lots of hands-on displays. Live amphibians and reptiles are on display in the spring and summer months.
